Media happenings
Since the web won't cooperate with photos today, thought I'd share some of some media coverage that I've been coordinating/facilitating/whatever-other-military-buzzword-ating you might dream up...
The (attempted) link below is the first posting from a journalist I just embedded in our region, south of here on the border. It was hectic coordinating his visit (we had him here on the FOB, I have him intro briefs and showed him around, then we got him on an opportune flight within a few hours), and it's a good read. His blog is fascinating, as he travels to war zones around the world, but the comments he receives are a mix of supportive and depressing. The site will not cooperate with links either, so please cut-and-paste to your browser...

Here is another story from a journalist we had here at this base for about a week. She wrote a few, but I can't locate the others yet. This is from the visit to Gardez that I wrote about earlier, as she is the one I was escorting at the time...

Stay tuned; I'll get more photos up here and try to post more often. It is busy lately, and getting busier almost each day...ah, springtime in South Asia...

Very interesting, Deuce! Kevin Sites is very well known to anyone who uses Yahoo!, and (from the Stars & Stripes article) this might be the best quote ever:
“We have soldiers who are smoking hashish,” he said. “I punish them. (The first) three or four times, I speak nicely to them. If I catch them a fifth time, I hit them with a stick.”
Yeah, I was sitting there wincing as he said that one and the reporter lit up...I actually expected it as the headline. But come on, how many times do hashheads need to be told everything? The policy sounds very reasonable!
