Well we got it from the Scottish back in the late 1700's. But, they are, please hold onto your helmet, equally exciting to either watch or participate in!!!! I admit I never played hockey, but I have curled and all the men in the small community I grew up in in Northern Ontario did both! And here is a startling fact, it is considered a MANLY sport, (except of course when there are women playing, but men watched that too)!!! I have the feeling you would not have been thrilled with the figure skating as suggested by Pat but I would surmise that the hockey players/curlers of my town would not have been either. But you are half way there Capt Dan because you called it BLOODY Curling, an adjective which is familiar vernacular to the Canadian (or Scottish) Curler!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20639917.post-1141014147372249622006-02-26T21:22:00.000-07:002006-02-26T21:22:00.000-07:00Editor's note: the "pat" on this page who wrote ab...Editor's note: the "pat" on this page who wrote about watching curling and figure skating is not Dan's brother of the same name.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20639917.post-1140882394780634562006-02-25T08:46:00.000-07:002006-02-25T08:46:00.000-07:00I guess I'm a throwback to the old shuffleboard da...I guess I'm a throwback to the old shuffleboard days of the Poconos, but I didn't mind the sport, although I never knew what the words the "players" were saying meant (I mean the English-speaking ones! -- forget any from the near polar regions -- they sounded like the Swedish chef from the Muppets!) What got me was the fact that all the girls on the American team hail from one town in Minnesota! How would this sport EVER gain any popularity here? Stay well Dan! I guess the networks are showing the exciting stuff while you sleep. There was some great skiing tonight and the fun skate night for those who medaled in the competitions. And if you're lucky, you might catch the short track relay race on Saturday. Don't give up hope, though, the curling is over...they'll have to show something else now..... :)kbughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07223790985074382728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20639917.post-1140826070123112442006-02-24T17:07:00.000-07:002006-02-24T17:07:00.000-07:00c'mon deuce, let the drunken janitors have their f...c'mon deuce, let the drunken janitors have their fun!stay safe.<BR/>-- groundskeeper willieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20639917.post-1140729608594690382006-02-23T14:20:00.001-07:002006-02-23T14:20:00.001-07:00Which is worse: curling or the luge?
